Oil & Gas Sector Petronas’ floating LNG project to produce 3.6 mil tonnes of LNG


National oil and gas corporation, Petronas’ proposed RM10bil liquefied natural gas (LNG) processing module, at the Petronas LNG Complex in Bintulu, will produce an additional 3.6 million metric tonnes of LNG per annum.

Petronas Carigali Sarawak Operation Head Mohd Nazori Janor said the company was aggressively pursuing the Floating LNG Project, known as Petronas LNG Train 9, offshore Sarawak. He said Petronas will spend about RM300bil over five years (2012-2017) on enhanced oil recovery, as well as, brown, small and marginal field development in Malaysia to sustain production level and increase resource base, and generate jobs and business opportunities in the oil and gas sector.

Upon completion, the Train 9 project will include gas receiving facilities, acid gas removal unit, dehydration and mercury removal unit, fractionation and liquefaction unit, LNG rundown unit and all the associated utilities and facilities.

The project is targeted to meet its final investment decision by the first quarter of next year with start-up targeted for the fourth quarter of 2015. - Bernama
