Malaysian Airline System Bhd (RM0.995/share) MASkargo strengthens operations in Labuan

MASkargo Sdn Bhd, the air cargo division of Malaysia Airlines, is expanding its operations into Labuan, tapping the booming oil and gas (O&G) hub in Asia. In a statement here, the company said ground equipment has been strategically mobilised for O&G charter operations with B747-400 and A330-200 freighters.

Its senior vice president, business development & freighter services, Jamaludin Ismail said the expected initial response to the dedicated freighters was encouraging and is in tandem with the economic growth, where twice or thrice weekly scheduled services could be considered in the near future.

Besides boasting tranquil hideaway attractions, the island also offered irresistible lure for charter freighter flights in line with the huge investment made to transform it into an integrated O&G hub in the region.

MASkargo recently took delivery of its fourth and final A330-200F freighter, to complement the two 747-400F freighters in its existing fleet.
