We recently attended the launch of Prestariang’s new boutique university, named Universiti Malaysia of Computer Science and Engineering (UniMy), in Cyberjaya. At the event, UniMy unveiled its academic partner as the University of Melbourne (UniMelb), while its industry partners are Microsoft, IBM, EC Council, Dell, Huawei and Autodesk. We are confident that this first-of-its-kind university in Malaysia would open up a new stream of recurring earnings and hence, maintain our BUY call, with our FV unchanged at RM2.15, based on a 10x FY13 PE.
Good attendance. UniMy’s official launch at its temporary campus in the Mahindara Satyam Malaysia Global Centre in Cyberjaya was attended by distinguished guests, among whom were Higher Education Minister Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, Secretary-General of the Higher Education Ministry Datuk Abdul Rahim bin Md Noor, Director-General of the Higher Education MinistryDato' Dr. Rujhan bin Mustafa and Professor Ivan Mureels, representing the University of Melbourne as dean of the School of Engineering.
A distinguished board. The event kicked off with a welcome speech by multi-award-winner, scientist and UniMy’s first ViceChancellor, Professor Datuk Dr. Halimaton Handan. The university was then officially launched by Dato Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin. The ceremony closed with the installation of UniMy’s Board of Governance, which consists of Dato Dr. Mohd. Arif bin Nun, Dato Dr. Islahuddin Baba, Prestariang’s chief executive officer Dr. Abu Hassan Ismail and chairman Datuk Ramli Abbas. Representatives from IBM Malaysia and Dell Global Services as well as Dato Mokhzani Mahathir from Sapurakencana Petroleum (all of which are members of the board) were not present at the ceremony.
