WCT Bhd (RM2.60/share) - Leads race for RM700m job


WCT Bhd, a unit controlled by low-profile businessman Peter Taing Kim Hwa, has emerged as the front runner to secure a RM700mil contract to build a teaching hospital at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS).

Business Times understands that the contract comes under the preview of the Higher Education Ministry and the ministry could award the job in the next couple of weeks. It is further understood that as many as four companies had pre-qualified for the teaching hospital project.

So far this year, WCT has secured about RM2.1 billion worth of jobs, including the recently secured RM1bil contract for the construction and completion of Batinah Expressway Package 2 in Oman. Jobs in hand include PLUS highway widening works, earthworks for the KLIA2, as well as a government administrative office and New Doha International Airport projects in Qatar. – Business Times
